A war bond is something people would buy to help the government pay for tanks, planes, ships, weapons, uniforms, food, medicine and everything that the united states needed.

This picture describes that its really important to buy war bonds and its saying you should buy them like you really need them to survive which they pretty much do. 

In this picture it says "Dear god , keep them safe" and it means to keep the kids safe from the war because if people don't buy war bonds the enemy will take over the united states of America and they would be unsafe and result to wearing gas masks.
